The British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA) is the UK’s leading professional trade association for the fire sprinkler industry.

Statistically, landfill use has declined in recent years, but there are still obstacles preventing the best approach to waste treatment and recycling. For example, in Europe – with all the continent’s modern capabilities – only 41% of waste was optimised in 2015.

The patented Steinert Eddy Current Separator NES, featuring an its eccentric pole system, is the ideal tool for the job – for more than 20 years! High yield and long service life are the benefits that ensure efficient and long-term operating results.

A non-ferrous metal separator consists of a short conveyor. A rapidly rotating system of permanent magnets is incorporated in the head drum. The magnets generate strong eddy currents in the non-ferrous metal parts which eject the NF parts from the rest of the material flow.
The special feature of Steinert’s non-ferrous metal separator is the eccentric pole system. The pole system is adjustable, so that the application of force can be optimally adjusted for maximum ejection efficiency. As compared to concentric pole systems, the eccentric pole system increases the metal yield by 50%. The service life of the belt and drum shell is considerably lengthened.

Silent Sentinel are an established UK company with over 25 years’ experience, specialising in long-range video and thermal imaging cameras.
The fire suppression specialists, which are based in Hertfordshire, are set to make their WASTE debut at the WEC on July 5 and can be found on the indoor Stand 12.
Although WASTE ’18 will be the first time the Silent Sentinel team are joining forces with Skip Hire & Waste Magazine, the fire prevention industry leaders are no strangers to events after exhibiting at RWM 2017.
How can Silent Sentinel help you?
It was only recently, thermal imaging became more affordable increasing the availability of radiometric thermal imaging technology.
While investigating several key industries, Silent Sentinel realised the waste and recycling industries were struggling with rising insurance premiums and increased fire risks due to increased processing of materials on a daily basis.
It has become more apparent insurance premiums across the industry are rising at an unprecedented level to the point where insurance is being refused; even for those with no claims since they have been in business.
In the waste and recycling environment, the internal temperature of many types of material can increase to the extent they begin to burn spontaneously. Fires can result, and intense heat can cause nearby material to ignite, which can result in extreme damage.
Although conventional fire alarms and firefighting systems are often installed, they generally only operate after a fire has started.
Thermal imaging can help to detect hot spots before a fire starts so proactive and preventive measures can be taken before there is a major incident.
Without going into too much of the ‘nitty gritty’, Silent Sentinel’s thermal radiometric cameras will allow the measurement of heat sources in video cameras up to 400m in one direction – meaning they can cover 360° and can target specific areas of interest.
Such is the accurate nature of this technology and more so the temperature measurement, allowing reliable detections of fire and heat in large open spaces.
Silent Sentinel’s innovative solution can be applied to the waste management and utilities industry where fire is one of the larger risks to recycling and waste sites.

The cameras can be integrated with multiple alert, alarm and transmission systems.

The future looks bright for Master Magnets, as we continue to trade and grow world-wide. Our design and engineering departments now have the knowledge and expertise to solve any application presented to us from around the world.
We are now based at Redditch in Worcestershire, which is very close to strategic motorway links and served by nearby Birmingham International Airport. Since moving to the custom built site, the Redditch factory has provided Master Magnets Ltd with increased factory space, 30 tonne craneage, and easier transportation of our goods.
In 2003 when we moved to Redditch, we acquired IRS Ltd (Integrated Recycling Systems Ltd), providing the company with more strength in the recycling industry, to complement the existing product range.
In 2005 Master Magnets Ltd also acquired Metal Detection Ltd, well established in the electronic metal detector business for over 40 years. This latest acquisition gives the parent company Master Magnets Ltd an all-embracing position in the field of magnetic separation and extraction, all aspects of recycling, and full coverage of metal detection applications.

In January 2017, Bunting Magnetics acquired Master Magnets.
